Welcome to the Field Club
Where walkers make friends and friends go walking.
The Field Club was founded on 2 July 1990, initially by a small group of friends, who all enjoyed the simple pleasure of walking in the Spanish countryside. Since those early days it has grown considerably and in 2002 became formally registered under Spanish Law as the Club Multinacional de Senderismo (The Field Club) and now has over one hundred and fifty members from many countries and backgrounds.
What we do.
The Field Club year is divided into two seasons, January to May and September to December, in each of which there is a full programme of walks of varying degrees of difficulty.
Some of our walks can be about 15-17 kms and may be quite challenging. We usually walk in the countryside and mountains and a higher level of fitness is required for these walks. We also organise less strenuous walks of maybe 8 kms. It is important that you read the walk description carefully to ensure it is within your ability. We want you to enjoy yourself!
For most of our walks you are expected to make your own way to the meeting point, but we do encourage car sharing and have a Messenger group for this purpose. A contribution towards the costs should be offered. We also organise trips on a coach to enable us to do linear walks, further afield There is a cost for these coach walks, but other walks are free for members. Obviously places are limited for the coach walks, so book early!
For members who are no longer able to participate in our twice weekly walks, the Flat Earth Walkers (the FEW) meet on Thursday mornings in either La Cala or Fuengirola for a coffee, a walk along the boardwalk or paseo and lunch if desired. This is a very sociable group and anyone is welcome to attend.
Social Events
We have a programme of Social events, including dinner dances, lunches and two walking holidays each year. Holidays are normally in Andalucia, but sometimes further afield in Spain and occasionally abroad. Details of Spring and Autumn events can be found in our Walk Programme, which you will find elsewhere on this website when you have joined the Club.
If you feel the Field Club may be to your liking and wish to know more, why not come and meet us at one of our Monday morning meetings?
